Resource centre for ZX Spectrum games
using Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy game engines

Welcome to JSW Central!

This website is dedicated to games for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum using Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy game engines, both the original and modified ones. It aims to provide comprehensive information about the gamma-released games and other resources related to this unique expression of human creativity.

The complete list of MM and JSW games is the most important part of this website. It lists all known, gamma-released games for the Spectrum which use MM and JSW game engines. It is currently divided into seven sections: MM games, JSW48 games, JSW II games, JSW128 games and JSW64 games (all classified according to the game engine used) plus Games using other game engines (which can be considered MM or JSW games) and Mini games (featuring fewer than five rooms).

The sections Versions of the original MM and Versions of the original JSW list variants of the original games which are not "modified enough" to be considered new games, yet may be of interest to MM and JSW fans.

All games listed in the sections described above have their individual pages, accessible from the lists. Each page features basic information about the game, download links and links to related resources on other websites (such as maps, RZX walkthroughs or YouTube videos). Eventually, all these individual pages will also feature complete screenshot galleries for each game - this is work in progress.

Scope and principles describes the rules and conventions adopted for JSW Central.

Phenomenon of MM/JSW games offers some quotations which may help explain the fascination for these games some people feel and the reasons why they are still playing and designing them.

Brief history provides background information about the JSW Revival, while Chronology contains a detailed timelime of the most important events in the development of MM and JSW games.

The Games of MM and JSW interest section lists games which may be of particular interest to MM and JSW fans. While it is developed gradually, it does not aspire to ever be complete, as there must be hundreds of games inspired by or similar to MM or JSW and listing them all is not a priority on this website.

The Authors about their games section contains a look at various MM and JSW games from the perspective of their authors. This section was created because some authors provided exclusive texts to be published here, and will be expanded gradually over time.

The Links section offers a selection of addresses of websites which may be useful to people interested in this subject.

The purpose of JSW Central is to provide a place on the Web where all gamma-released MM and JSW games for the ZX Spectrum are featured together. Hopefully, it will encourage authors of brand new games or games which are still unfinished or have been beta-released only to complete their projects, so that they can find their place here, too.

Please contact me if you are such an author, or if you would like to contribute to JSW Central in some way, or want to get in touch regarding anything related to MM and JSW games for the Spectrum.
