Author: Edward Martland
Year: 2003
Reissued: 2004
Language: English
JSW:FTB was the last of the three JSW games released by Edward Martland between 2000 and 2003. It was released in January 2003. The game was reissued in April 2004 due to some minor corrections to the documentation; the TAP file remained unchanged, however.
In 2000, shortly after Edward released The Time Hole, which marked his entry into the JSW community, he initiated an ambitious project called Jet Set Willy vs. the Beatles. Despite his initial enthusiasm, the project stalled after about a year as Edward gradually lost momentum and set it aside, intending to revisit it later.
Following the release of Soul Miner — a pseudo-sequel to The Time Hole — Edward returned to Jet Set Willy vs. the Beatles. However, upon reviewing the game's later stages, he was dissatisfied with their quality and daunted by the extensive work required to salvage it. This led him to extract the best-designed rooms and reimagine them as part of a new project. This approach evolved into the creation of a fresh game, JSW:FTB, which successfully integrated these highlights into a cohesive and innovative experience.
According to the author, the game has no plot: "It's just a jolly adventure game". The meaning of "FTB" in the title is intentionally left to the player's imagination.
JSW:FTB uses Hacklevel 8 of the JSW128 game engine.
