Versions and minor mods of the original Manic Miner
This section lists versions of the original Manic Miner which are either serious rewrites of the game engine, aiming for a faithful recreation of the original game, or are minor mods not "modified enough" to be considered new games, but interesting for various reasons: because they feature some changes to the game engine, some new rooms, some new technical features, etc.

A cut-down version of MM featuring a mere ten caverns, with three difficulty levels to choose from.

An eight-cavern, laterally-inverted version of MM created as a tribute to all essential workers during the 2020 lockdown.
Reverse Manic Miner [Andrew Broad, Broadsoft, 2004]
A version of Manic Miner where you play through the caverns in reverse order.
Manic Miner Shuffle [Allan Turvey (Highrise), 2019]
A version of Manic Miner in which all the rooms apart from the first and last one are shuffled every time you play the game, so the order is different every time.
Manic Miner: creme de la creme [Norman Sword, 2021]
A file created for the purpose of demonstrating Manic Miner being auto-played with the maximum possible score.
Manic Miner: Perpetual Motion [Darth Melkor, 2005]
A version in which Willy moves incessantly, with three rooms edited to make the game completable.
Manic Miner - Light Modification [Pgyuri and Andy Ford, 2020]
A twist to the original Manic Miner in which Miner Willy can only see what his lamp would conventionally light.
Manic Miner - Trick or Treat? [Allan Turvey, Highrise, 2021]
A Halloween version of Manic Miner in which the player has to guide Miner Willy through the classic caverns using a real miner's lamp, with AY music.

A "mildly updated" version of the original, with a new loading screen, a "real" Speedlock loader and a few minor changes.
Manic Miner - Highscore Challenge [Andy Ford, 2018]
A version in which the player can plan only one room at a time, whose object is to obtain the maximum possible score for a cavern.
Manic Miner - The Big Bonus Edition [Andy Ford, 2019]
A simple modification of Manic Miner to provide a higher score compared to a standard version.
Manic Miner - The Two Chance Challenge [Andy Ford, 2021]
A small variation on the original with two lives provided per cavern.
Manic Miner - Super Pre-School Edition [Derek Jolly, 1999]
A CSSCGC 1999 entry: Manic Miner hacked so that you can walk straight into the portal in each cavern.
Dumb Miner [Mark Woodmass (Woody), 2008]
A CSSCGC 2008 entry: Manic Miner hacked so that Willy falls endlessly through the platforms in "Central Cavern".
