Double Miner
Authors: Mr. Anonymous / Daniel Gromann
Year: 2008 / 2018
Language: English
A double-width variant of Manic Miner with the caverns in left/right pairs with a double air supply. It was created by Mr. Anonymous, who posted it to World of Spectrum in SNA format in December 2008. Mr. Anonymous created only the first pair of joined rooms (in addition to the modification to the game engine), but encouraged other people to design a game with 10 double-width levels.
Daniel Gromann did just that in 2018, removing walls in some rooms, adding items where there were fewer than ten in a pair of rooms, adjusting the portals and renaming the rooms. He released the game almost exactly ten years after Mr. Anonymous's original upload, in TAP and TZX formats, with a custom BASIC loader, loading screen and slightly modified title screen and scrolling message.
Number of rooms: 10 (double rooms)
Highest documented score:
- upon reaching the swordfish sign: 38,670 points;
- upon first re-entry into the first cavern: 40,640 points.
