Manic Miner: Matthew Smith 2008 Remix
Author: Andrew Broad
Publisher: Broadsoft
Year: 2008
Language: English
A variant of Manic Miner inspired by an interview with Matthew Smith in the Load 48 issue of Retro Gamer magazine, published in February 2008, in which he commented on each of the caverns in MM, including how he would have done things differently. Andrew Broad took these comments on board as far as possible within the limitations of the original MM game engine, and also made some minor changes of his own, with the intention of showing off the unused cell graphics in each cavern by putting some in, bringing each room up to the maximum five items, and forcing the player to do things that Matthew Smith clearly intended but didn't enforce, or things the player might not otherwise have thought of trying in the original MM caverns.
Manic Miner: Matthew Smith 2008 Remix was released in December 2008 as a bonus game to JSW64: Flash Manic Miner.
Number of rooms: 20
Highest documented score:
- upon reaching the swordfish sign: 35,878 points;
- upon first re-entry into the first cavern: 37,128 points.
