Authors: Daniel Gromann, Paul Equinox Collins et al.

Year: 2005 / 2010

Language: English

Jet Set Willy: The 2005 Megamix was the second JSW game gamma-released by Daniel Gromann. It was launched in May 2005. It incorporated 48 rooms designed by Paul Equinox Collins (from his unfinished JSW '96 Remix), 12 rooms adapted from the Dragon 32 version of JSW, or rather its conversion back to the Spectrum by John Elliott, 6 rooms designed by Rob Moseley (from his unfinished JSW Remix), 4 rooms designed by Ian Collier (from his extended version of JSW), 2 rooms designed by Greg Heslington, from Jonathan Graham Harston's extended version of JSW), 2 rooms designed by John Elliott (from his Jet Set Willy 128k), 2 rooms from the Softricks editor version of JSW, 1 room designed by Dave Nichols (from the April Showers version of JSW) and 1 redesigned room from Richard Hallas's Join the Jet-Set! The remaining rooms were designed by Daniel Gromann.

Jet Set Willy: The 2005 Megamix was a fully finished product at the time of its release and a game possible to complete without losing a single life. However, Daniel soon realized that a lot of memory room was left unused in the game and decided to expand the Megamix using all available space. The result of this work, which took five years, was Jet Set Willy: The 2010 Megamix, released at the end of December 2010.

From the author's perspective, the two releases of the Megamix are not two different games; JSW: The 2005 Megamix was the first phase of development of the project, while JSW: The 2010 Megamix is the final product. Players who have not played the game yet are encouraged to play JSW: The 2010 Megamix - the version which best corresponds to their abilities and ambitions as a player.

The Hard Version of JSW: The 2010 Megamix is intended to be an extreme challenge for the most dedicated players. Some parts of it are very easy, but some are forbiddingly difficult. This version was created first. The Easy Version was only created afterwards, by re-editing the Hard Version. Therefore, the Hard Version is "the first among equals".

Both releases of The Megamix use Hacklevel 9 of the JSW128 game engine.
