20. Willy's Afterlife
Author: Fabián Álvarez López (Adban de Corcy)
Year: 2000 (v. 2.00)
Language: English
Willy's Afterlife was the first of three JSW games gamma-released by Fabián Álvarez López (Adban de Corcy) between 2000 and 2002.
The initial gamma-release of the game in mid-February 2000 was followed by the releases of two bugfixes in the following days, and then of version 2.00 in June of that year.
Tired of being dragged from one place to another and picking shining objects, Willy dies from exhaustion. He is buried in the family crypt and left to rest until the Judgement Day. However, two years later Willy is awakened by Uriel, Poison of God, and ordered to collect all of the 200 items stolen from God's Museum of Relics which had been robbed by unknown perpetrators, who later scattered the bounty all over the lands of the dead. Willy, skeletal but still with his hat on his head, has to traverse Heaven, Hell, the Lands of Death and some other areas and complete this job in order to be able to once again enjoy eternal rest in his tomb.
The fall-any-height POKE is turned on by default, as Willy, being a spirit, cannot die from falling from an excessive height. He can die from all other usual hazards present in JSW games though...
The game's in-game tune is a fantasy on the "Dies Irae" theme, from the Gregorian liturgy, and the title-screen music is a short piece composed by Fabián Álvarez López called "Nocturne".
