Also known as: Mr Top Hat - a study into the natural philosophy of the JSW world
Author: Nick Aldridge
Year: 2003
Language: English
Mr Top Hat was the last of the five JSW games created by Nick Aldridge between 2000 and 2003. Its full title, according to the Readme, is Mr Top Hat - a study into the natural philosophy of the JSW world.
Mr Top Hat, one of the guardians from Nick's previous game JSW - The Sun Is No Longer Producing Heat, was stolen from that game and taken to a laboratory. The people in the lab wanted to plunder the JSW universe and discover all its secrets. Specifically, they wanted to examine six areas of scientific study: Biology, Electromagnetism, Quantum Physics, Computing, Chemistry and Mathematics and how these things could operate in a JSW universe. Meanwhile, Mr Top Hat wants to get back to JSW - TSINLPH. To do this he must enter the six labs and collect six keys. Then - and only then - can he escape this game!
Number of edited rooms: 61
Number of rooms accessible without cheating: 59
(The rooms "The late Mr. Springs" [59] and "The lost Sundays - 1/7th of life" [60] are accessible only by using the Writetyper cheat, which can be activated [with great difficulty, because of the conveyor and the oncoming guardians] in "The original?" [28]. It should be noted that entering the long Writetyper codes for these rooms [654219 and 65439, respectively] may not work on some PC keyboards when playing the game on an emulator [due to keyboard scanning problems]. Moreover, the Writetyper teleportation into "The late Mr. Springs" has to be very precise so as to land within the Earth/Water cells, as most of the room is made up of Fire cells, which would kill Willy repeatedly on entry if touched.
Furthermore, the rooms "ZIP password : 5zt421" [33], "Leaving so soon?" [56], "Now leaving Mr Top Hat" [57] and "You've finished this game!" [58], which are part of the final sequence, are only accessible during the toilet run.)

(It is not necessary to visit the room "The true/false vacuum threat" [16].)
Number of items to collect: 6
Bugfix needed after original release? NO
Spare lives at the start: 7
Completable without loss of life? YES
Starting time and the best documented completion time: N/A
