The Fucked Internet Trilogy is a 2004 release by the DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!. It contains language and imagery which may be offensive to some people. It is classified as an "X-Rated" title on World of Spectrum and it is "Censored" (!) on Spectrum Computing. The trilogy consists of the following games:
1. Jet Set Willy: Fucked Internet Remix, also known as F.I.R. - using the standard JSW48 game engine
The game was created in March 2003. The author did not have any internet access at that time, which was frustrating for him. He decided to actually try and achieve what he had intended (but failed to achieve) with his first game, Jet Set Willy: The DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!, i.e. to complete the game's creation (by editing the original JSW) within 24 hours. He did succeed this time, finishing the project (complete with a Readme) in 23 hours and 50 minutes. In F.I.R., Willy walks backwards ("to make things slightly more awkward") and his hat has been modified "to be at a jaunty angle". There are several brand-new rooms, a part of the rooms from the original JSW have been edited to varying degrees, and others left unchanged. The author admits that F.I.R. "is just a remix not really a full on conversion".
The story: Maria, "the fat manipulative bitch", commands Willy to tidy the house before he can go to bed. Amongst the items that he has to collect are a few bits and pieces that will fix her laptop. Maria's underlying motive is to repair her computer and, while Willy is asleep after collecting all the items, "to log onto Kazaa to download MP3s and porn".
2. Jet Set Willy: Fucked Internet Remake, also known as F.I.R. 2 - using the standard JSW48 game engine
The game was created in April 2003, during the author's continued lack of internet access. The DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! began the development of F.I.R. 2 with "no story, and no real plan for a proper game". He dedicated more time to it than to F.I.R., and "decided to go the whole hog and do a remake". While working on the original JSW, he altered its structure "just enough to be classed as a remake rather than a remix" and designed a number of new rooms and sprites.
The story: After Maria's computer had been successfully repaired, life returned to normal and both she and Willy enjoyed a period of happiness. One evening, after a hard day's work, Maria left her computer, connected to the net, unattended on the table while rushing out for some last-minute shopping. Willy, a little drunk, decided to use it. After a mere 10 minutes, he found himself inundated with 35 viruses and persistent pop-ups, prompting a moment of panic. Hastily pulling the plug, Willy attempted to rectify the situation but was met with a disconcerting crackling noise upon rebooting - Maria's computer was broken again! At that very moment, Maria returned and got mad. She declared a strike and ordered Willy to clean up after that night's party, as well as to find the necessary components to repair her computer once again.
3. Jet Set Willy: Fucked Internet Resurrection, also known as F.I.R. 3 - using Geoff Mode game engine
The creation of the third installment of the Trilogy began in May 2003. It stands out as the most refined, featuring predominantly new rooms (with only a few easily recognisable as edited rooms from the original JSW) and new sprites. It utilises "Geoff Mode," modifications to the JSW game engine created by Geoff Eddy. F.I.R. 3 is the only gamma-released game by an author other than Geoff Eddy to employ the Geoff Mode engine.
The story: After acquiring the necessary components to repair Maria's computer, things were good again, and Willy felt relieved. However, tranquility proved short-lived as Maria's computer malfunctioned once more after a week. She blamed the problems on Willy's previous use and insisted that he procure components for a state-of-the-art computer boasting 8 billion GB of RAM and a Pentium 25 processor. Threatening to quit her cleaning job, she compelled Willy to embark on this demanding task, and Willy, known for his aversion to labour, reluctantly accepted the challenge. Recognising JP Computers, a local computer store, as the optimal starting point for his quest, he embarked on yet another mission, lamenting Maria's preference for modern technology over the ZX Spectrum computer she used to be happy with in the past.
The original releases of the games comprising the Fucked Internet Trilogy suffered from various bugs. A bug-fixed edition, in which each of the games is completable without losing a single life, was released in June 2007.
