WiLLY iN ThE MiRRoRVeRSE is the second JSW game by Carl Paterson. He started working on it in 2022, using JSWED 2.3.7. The game was released in February 2023 (v. 2; v. 1 was an unreleased development file) after some "postproduction" by Daniel Gromann. In December 2023, v. 3 was released with some additions and improvements (mainly in the area of the in-game music).
GAME PREMISE: Willy looked in the mirror in his bathroom when a sudden flash from a nearby nuclear power plant combined with aliens fighting the drone wars in his loft created a rip in the space-time continuum. When his eyes refocused after the flash, he was still in the bathroom, but it did not look quite right. It turns out Willy finds himself trapped in a mirrorverse. He must traverse almost 60 rooms of mystery collecting all the items as he goes so he may be reunited with Maria. She is an astrophysicist and can get them home in some kind of "magiver" episode.
WiLLY iN ThE MiRRoRVeRSE features completely new rooms. There are also new and modified guardian sprites. The game features custom-made loading and title screens and custom font. It also offers the player an exceptional amount of music, including a brand-new title-screen tune and (as of v. 3) a total of 19 in-game tunes, most of which (except for one) are 128 bytes long and have never been used in a JSW game before.
While the official release ZIP of version 3 also includes the older release files (of version 2), players are strongly encouraged to play version 3 as the latest and most polished revision of WiLLY iN ThE MiRRoRVeRSE.
