JeT SeT JnR aNd ThE CuRsE oF ThE PhArAoH is the third JSW game created by Carl Paterson. It was designed using JSWED 2.3.7. The game was released in December 2023 (v. 2; v. 1 was an unreleased development file) after some "postproduction" by Daniel Gromann.
The story: Willy, the infamous tomb raider, has just returned from an Egyptian expedition, raiding multiple tombs despite warnings that the stolen items are said to carry a vengeful curse. Three members of the expedition mysteriously disappeared, but Willy dismisses it as superstitious nonsense. This marks his final expedition, and after this last big payday, he plans to retire. While in the basement examining artifacts, Willy discovers a sacred golden tiara with hieroglyphs reading "H.A.T.S.H.E.P.S.U.T." Suddenly, a horrific scream echoes from upstairs. As Willy rushes to the top of the stairs, the house shakes, and the study door flashes. Opening it, he sees his son, Jet Set Junior, disappearing into a portal, accompanied by a faint, mocking female laughter. With a blinding flash, his son is gone, and Willy realizes the curse is true. Jet Set Junior awakens in darkness surrounded by hieroglyph-covered walls. He reads "DaMnEd SPiRiT GuArDZz" and wonders if he is in a video game from 1984. Stunned and confused, he must find a way home and get back to his reality through the Toilet of Time.
JeT SeT JnR aNd ThE CuRsE oF ThE PhArAoH features entirely new rooms and predominantly new guardian sprites. The game showcases specially crafted loading and title screens, as well as a unique font. Furthermore, it provides players with a noteworthy selection of music, featuring a new title-screen tune and a total of 13 in-game tunes. Each in-game tune is 128 bytes long and has never been utilized in any JSW game for the Spectrum before.
