3. Manic Miner No. 2
(Manic Miner #2)
Author / publisher: R. D. Foord Software
Year: 1985
Language: English
Manic Miner No. 2 was created by R. D. Foord Software back in 1985. It was probably the first MM game that looked signiificantly different from the original MM. However, it was not known to a wider public until March 2005, when it was published on TZX Vault.
The game features a custom basic loader, a custom loading screen, a completely redesigned title screen (which also serves as the upper half of the last cavern), a rewritten scrolling message and brand new rooms. Most of the guardians are copied from Jet Set Willy, although some of the original guardians from MM are also in place.
Number of rooms: 20
Highest documented score:
- upon reaching the swordfish sign: 37,290 points;
- upon first re-entry into the first cavern: 38,755 points.
