Manic Miner III: Tales from a Parallel Universe is the first MM remake of the internet era. It features a Miner Willy from a parallel universe who, "just like his counterpart in this reality, has fallen into a mine packed with dangers and must escape from 20 lethal caverns in order to locate the untold treasures of an ancient civilisation. However, in this universe things are subtly different..... ".
The game features a custom basic loader, a custom loading screen created using a cartoon of Matt Smith Lee Tonks found on NVG and a rewritten scrolling message. The room layouts have been changed, but the graphics and the guardian sprites and movements have not been modified.
Manic Miner III: Tales from a Parallel Universe was released in May 1996; then in the summer of that year it was included in the snapshot pack in Issue 6 of the Emulate! online magazine.
