Compression based around frequency transforms will drop high
frequencies, whereas a Spectrum data file is saved at a
relatively low frequency. This is presumably why it
works.

Actually, high frequency data on a saved Spectrum file will
probably be due to noise, so if you have any tapes that
don't load then try saving then to MP3!
