Is this a cheat word (like WRITETYPER), or is it
just some obscure joke?
Anyway, I'm just
starting on a Henry's Hoard phase myself. According to the
World of Spectrum download, POKE 34793,0 gives infinite
lives.
I'm currently trying to decide which version of
Henry's Hoard to type into my real Spectrum.
The
original 1985 release
[ftp://ftp.void.jump.org/pub/sinclair/games/h/HENRYSHO.ZIP ] is a snapshot, so I'm not sure what the address
range is (it's 32768-65535 for MM/JSW games, but HH is
a different matter). This seems to be the more
definitive version, on which John Elliott did his analysis
of the HH game engine
[http://www.seasip.demon.co.uk/Jsw/henry.html target=new>http://www.seasip.demon.co.uk/Jsw/henry.html> ].
The 1986 release
[ftp://ftp.void.jump.org/pub/sinclair/games/h/HENRYROA.ZIP ] is a TAP file, which is better for `Saisie'ing
into a real Spectrum, and also fixes the 1985
version's buggy victory sequence (and thus should be used
for HH remakes). However, the last file on the TAP
seems to be compressed or something, and when I compare
it to an SNA of the 1985 version (using spconv to
convert the 1985 Z80 file to SNA, and SPECSAISIE's
TAPtoSNA to convert "HHD.CDE" to an SNA (with no
relocation)), the two files are almost totally
different!
There is a third version of Henry's Hoard, a Microhobby
magazine covertape version from 1987
[ftp://ftp.void.jump.org/pub/sinclair/magazines/Microhobby/Issue188/Tape07/HenrysHoard.tap.zip ] - a TAP file with completely different files of
completely different address ranges on it! The fact that my
system is going down in 3 minutes prevents further
investigation this week...
