yes. it would.

I used paint shop pro 5. it
lets you simply paste the different staged of
animation in and set the time frames. Eg - the walking
willy on JSWremakes (I didn't do that one, I nicked it
from Arsen's UFP) and the 'colour cycling JSW tape
cover' (which I did do.)
All you have to do before
hand is set the canvas sizes the same and make sure
the pixels are central if the gis is to stationary
(not offset like the horizontal sprites), or as they
are if you're going movethem left/right or
up/down.
If you move them l/r or u/d, you'll need to make
each pic's canvas size the size of the whole path, and
position them at each frame position (like the animation
sequences in JSW)
phew.
there must be a less
complicated way of explaining that !
