Or the one-way fire in MM4's "Starting Fires", or
the one-way magenta pirate in We Pretty's "OJO DE
PIRATES"! :-)
In fact, I have a near perfect
simulation of a Geoff-mode wraparound HG (i.e. the illusion
of a HG reappearing immediately at the other end of
its path, achieved by having two guardian instances,
with one half of the sprite page blank) in the start
room of Goodnite Luddite, "I AND MY MONASTERY". At the
end, when you're running to the reredorter, you have
to dodge it by holding down right to stop!
:-)
Talking of Goodnite Luddite, work is at a standstill with
only twelve rooms actually created (and only nine of
them properly written). I just don't have time to work
on it at the moment (I *do* want to). I just write
down any ideas that come to me - about the plot, and
room ideas (I already have over 64 room ideas). I
originally wanted to release it on 2nd December 2000
(Selesmas Day) - tomorrow! - but it is not gonna happen. So
I'm now pencilling 26th June 2002 as the target
release date.
My next Manic Miner game, Ma jolie,
may well be my lone MM/JSW release of 2001. I would
like to release it in twenty weekly instalments,
starting on 1st January, but it is not gonna
happen
As for simulating a `square' guardian, if it's what
I think it is, then it couldn't be done in MM or
JSW because you can't have one-way VGs. It might be
possible using wraparound VGs in Geoff Mode,
though.
