No, there's not much point. All it
allows for so far as I am aware that only allows for
screen wipes ... and instant movement between rooms

Those are changes in JSWED rather than in the game
itself. The change to the game engine in HL7 is a bug fix
on diagonal guardians which allows more than one per
room.
