I've got Games
Designer for my real Spectrum, and wrote several games for
it in the eighties and early nineties, before I got
into MM/JSW editing. "A lifetime of games in one
package" proved disappointing, as it basically just allows
you to parameterise four basic game types (vertical
shoot-'em-up, horizontal shoot-'em-up, bird's eye shoot-'em-up
with four-directional movement, and bird's eye
shoot-'em-up with eight-directional turn-and-move). You could
have the player either shoot at the guardians, or kill
them by activating a "shield" when colliding (which I
used to implement some martial arts games).
The
games I wrote using Games Designer, as I remember
them:
* Wicked Willy: not the kind of Willy we're used to
here! ;->
* Ninja: you played a Ninja, and
had to shoot or kick (the game therefore was in two
parts) enemies such as Kung Fu masters, Yamos, etc. I
was heavily into Ninjas in the eighties, and no doubt
would have written a Ninja JSW game if I'd been able to
write MM/JSW games in those days!
* World War
I/II
* Renegade/Target Renegade/Renegade III
(unfinished)
* Boxes: an unorthodox and surreal game where all
graphics were 12x12 pixel squares and you had to kill the
other boxes using your `shield'. All you could see was
black boxes on white paper, and there was no sound, but
there was something inexplicably addictive about such a
minimalistic game!
I also have editors for Macadam
Bumper (a Pinball game), Traz, Spore, Molecule Man and
War Cars but I never got heavily into them, and these
games were mostly crap anyway. I was into Marble
Madness editing, though, and did several games for that.
I doubt it would be possible to get them into
emulator format, though, as they were saved in a weird
protected format.
