Subject: gender and nationality

" I always thought there was a certain
"Englishness" peculiar to MM and JSW which would make it
difficult to get into, and I don't think it was released to
the US (was it?) - But by now I thought they'd be
appearing "

exactly! mm and jsw have that
irrisistably 'quaint' englishness about them, which is
definately a factor in their brilliance. i personally can't
wait to see american and oriental takes on editing,
although i doubt it would affect the actual design of the
screens, filtering in more through the room names, choice
of locations or cultural references
perhaps?

" I just looked over our membership and found that
we have just two female members "

i noticed
this, too (i occasionally scan the members list). i
don't know why the editing scene is predominately male,
especially in this day and age where women and men are of
equal competence at computing (generally) and it's
considered 'socially acceptable' to engage in vaguely
'geeky' activities :>

" three who didn't
specify their gender (and one of those was Sendy).
"

my reason (for what it's worth, and since you
brought it up) is because i identify as transgendered -
psychologically i am somewhere inbetween male and female, which
to be truthfull gets a bit confusing (especially in
a society so utterly obsessed by
compartmentalisation) but i suppose it gives me a unique outlook on
life (jet set willy included ;)

" Hell, in the
time I've been here I don't think I've seen a single
post from something like 75% of our membership. Did
all you people really register purely so you could
look at the photos? "

agree. anyone would have
thought this was a porn club :>
