No, I was wrong. Since VGs are drawn *after* the
items in Manic Miner, there is no white ink for an item
to colour-collide with at the time the item is
drawn. What happens is that the item glows white while
the VG colour-clashes with it, but the item is not
collected (see "Ballduins Ballhaus" in MM2). If a VG
pixel-collides with an item, it kills you regardless of whether
the VG is white or not.
I have just written
"The Dawn of Bacon-Sharing" for Ma jolie (12 rooms
written now), in which you have to remove items from the
paths of white and cyan VGs (which does throw the music
out of phase in demo mode! ;-) ), and watch as a
white HG collects an item for you and a cyan HG walks
through an item without either colliding with the
other.
