Subject: Re: 3D / Jester Interactive
"A good 3D version of JSW could be made -
Nintendo made a superb job of making a 3D version of Mario
for the N64."
Yeah but Mario runs on a
different principle to Willy. Whilst Nintendo's simple
template of "stomp monster/grab coin" can be translated to
3D, Willy has that certain atmosphere, and it's a
question of transferring it to 3D properly. One
significant thing is that Mario enemies are semi-intelligent,
and in the old games they could chase Mario about,
drop off platforms, etc. You can put that in a 3D game
and it works just fine and dandy. In Willy all
guardians (except special guardians like Eggoids from JSW2)
follow a set path. How would you recreate that properly
in a 3D environment?
"Imagine a
fully-realised polygon world for Willy to explore with cameos
from Maria, Andre, Esmerelda etc..."
Certainly
an interesting prospect. First sign of a monster
with a gun and I'd pull the disc out of my PC and burn
it though
