Subject: my games

" (Even more unfair and frustrating is the
tendency of Geoff Mode and JSW128 games to crash every
time I've completed about ten rooms, which is why I
want a save feature for real Spectra). "

is
there no way you can emulate a spectrum 128 on a
computer? zx32 does a TV emulation with colour bleed and
half-scan, it's very authentic! :) (does wonders for
spectrum graphics too!)

" I've twice found the time
to sit down and try to complete willy to the rescue,
and twice I've been foiled by MDSs: the first when I
fell the wrong way down "i wonder what's down there",
and the second when I did a careless jump out of
"headz" and overshot the platform in the room to the
left. "

i think it's good practice to have a few
short goes just to build up a mental map of a game -
especially where potential IDS are and where you need to be
on your guard. then you can be prepared to play the
game with a view to finishing it.

there's a
nasty part in 'malicious intentions' (sp) where if you
fall down from one side of 'boulderdash' you will get
an IDS, blatant. what was i thinking? :)

"
I've just started typing where's woody into my real
Spectrum, BTW. It has to have the longest and funniest
scrolly (I decided to start with TITLE.JS7) ever seen in
a MM/JSW game! :-) "

i was thinking of
recommending that you wait until *latest game* (which will
most probably be called 'strangel' - it fits across
the screen nicely :), which is also 128, but you
might enjoy it more (it's smaller and more 'intense'
:).

" Goodnite Luddite is set in and around a Selesian
monastery, and is being done in my own surreal style, which
makes the original JSW look very ordinary! ;-)
"

yes, i think many designers have picked up on the
surreality on the original JSW and magnified it out of all
proportion. probably along with the difficulty too
:)
