Subject: The JSW Clock

I've hardly had any contact with Willy or my
Spectrum at all in the last couple of months, as my PhD
thesis deadline is 30th September. I shall really
indulge myself in MM/JSW after that, though!
:D

It's weird how this club has gone from hundreds of
messages a week just a few months ago, to very inactive
since the release of strangel in March. It's as if
everyone has lost touch with the MM/JSW scene
simultaneously, which for the sake of my PhD is just as well!
;-)

I'm still typing where's woody into my real Spectrum,
and the blocks are getting fewer and further between
because of my PhD, so that's the game I've been playing
from time to time.

The other day, I loaded the
original JSW on my real Spectrum because I thought I might
as well test the time-limit while I was writing my
thesis. I made the following observations:
- The JSW
clock starts at 7:00am, and a minute is 256 time-frames
(the cycle-time for an arrow).
- The clock goes
from 11am to 12am to 1pm.
- The clock goes from
11pm to 12pm (midnight).
- The game resets itself
(goes back to the title screen) at 1 o'clock in the
morning, not midnight as advertised.
- It took about
six hours of real time to go from 7am to 1am on my
real Spectrum, waiting in "The Bathroom" with the
music on.

Since I'm writing my thesis mainly on
my Mac at home now, I'm sustaining myself on Tetrix
and Star 'Roids.

The chances of a Broadsoft
game being released in 2001 are receding: Ma jolie is
the nearest to completion (11/20), and if I don't
manage to get it out by the end of 2001, I may release
it in 20 weekly instalments every Wednesday in the
advent of Goodnite Luddite, which is scheduled for
release on 26th June 2002.
