So I started work on a 48k side project under the working title of
Fantasy World Willy (I don't think I'll keep this when it's
finished). It started off being a unique 48er which I intended to
finish in one day no matter how crap it turned out, but 5 days later
I'm still writing it and it'll be in the download section soon.
I always tend to take a good year or two over writing a JSW game,
partly because I'm very busy with other things, and partly because I
try to make every room a masterpiece.
I use a real Spectrum +2, each room takes me about 40 minutes to
write, followed by play-testing, followed by putting in the guardians,
followed by further play-testing. I never write more than one whole
room a day, and these days I get round to writing about two rooms a week.
I've now written 38/64 rooms for Goodnite Luddite.
because I've almost ran out of rooms and guardian spots.
Guardian-class economy is certainly a major problem in 48K JSW! In
Goodnite Luddite, I've only got about 20 unused guardian-classes left
with 26 rooms left to write! :-(
So I'll have to reuse a lot of guardian-classes in the remaining
rooms, but if I really need more new guardian-classes, I might extend
the game-engine to handle multiple guardian-class tables à la JSW128
or JSW Editor MkII (Softricks).
