Subject: Re: New JSW PC Editor Released
Dan, all this day I played your new game.
I can say that it became my best PC remake of JSW. Well, the only
thing that I don`t really like - that it is under DOS. But it isn`t
really important, isn`t it?
I saw every room in your game, using an editor and noticed that
there are no more holes in it. I don`t really like JSW II features
very much like bouncing guardians and holes, but if you try to make a
JSW II PC version then you`ll have to include them too.
Crumbling floors are too strong. Willy can easily walk on such
floor if it is going to crash on the next step. In original, Willy
will fall but here he can walk on them. I`m afraid I can`t tell you
what I mean exactly, I need to show it. : -)
Dan, I`m going to download DIV Games studio demo and to try to
change gfx in your game. But looks like there are too little sprites
in your game. Can I add any new sprites or not?
One question: what is the door in Master Bedroom, behind Maria? I
can stand next to it but nothing happens - is it your new "feature"?
And I also wanted to ask you: I don`t remember exactly but I
think that in your former JSW remakes, there were a lot of new
features that you didn`t want to talk about. For example, it was.. a
feature with Esmeralda - is it in this game too?
BTW I think that Willy`s dying was more interesting in the
previous version of your game, where Maria kicked Willy so he was
flying off the screen. The original stomping is too usual and
uninteresting thing to us, JSW fans, who have seen this picture for
million times :). To tell you the truth, when it was 1995 (That time
I played JSW for the first time) I was regreted poor Willy that was
squashed by a foot (Monty Python element).. so many times because of
his "stupid" controller, I mean because of me. : - ) So it will be
better if you`ll change "Game over" screen but it isn`t very
important, right?
As you said, I`m working on JSW3D DEMO. I will include only one
level in it and only 6 weapons, and 5-6 kinds of enemies. I think
that it will be enough for you to catch the game idea. Agree, that
such sentence is unbelievable right now: "Let`s play JSW using net"
or "Let`s play JSW deathmatch with 32 players at one time". I want to
make it real. If you want, you can play with your friends together.
The only problem is that DooM engine is too "heavy" for JSW. I
think that Mario3D engine would be better but I`m not such a good
programmer to create any game on any engine. I like original DooM and
I have a lot of editors for it, that`s why I`m making JSW on its
engine. That`s all.
Thanx for reading.
Sincerely yours,
Igor Makovsky aka Atreides
