after an autostereogram (those random-looking dot-patterns in which
you can see a 3D image if you look through the page).
Another autostereogram, "Eating and Being Eaten", has a similar
tribute in Goodnite Luddite.
Autostereograms were all the rage in 1994, and I purchased half a
dozen books of them! I've always wanted to write a MM room which is an
autostereogram, and my best effort so far is in my next MM game, Ma
jolie! :-)
Goodnite Luddite is currently 62/64 and Ma jolie 17/20, so I might
well finish both games next week! Goodnite Luddite will be out on 2nd
December, and Ma jolie in 2003.

Java toolkit SPECSAISIE (java Split; TAPtoSNA; RoomsMM/RoomsJSW)
except for Manic Miner 4 (the .tap file is compressed, and I don't
have an emulator to hand), Goodnite Luddite and Ma jolie (which aren't
in emulator-format yet, since I'm developing them on my real Spectrum).
