Subject: Various Ramblings/Re:To Igor about speccy games
First off Still stealin' is nearing completion. 60 screens complete
and about 10 unfinished, and about 15-25 to go. It probably won't
have all the over the top stuff I boasted all those months ago. But
it still has plenty of quirks and surprises although I'm almost
finding it difficult to make it as hard as I promised, maybe I feel
guilty about making it nightmare(Room haha) hard all the way through
but I'm just trying to balance it out with enough hard rooms to make
up for the easier ones, and balance out the almost harmless eye candy
type screens. For example "Bloody Dangerous" I have multiple animated
conveyors in there and "STOP THIEF!!!" I have the coke banner on a
skyscraper in the background in that screen. Anyway enough about me
I'll look forward to seeing the remix of JSW with the C64 and Dragon
32 extra screens sounds like a laugh :) Also just out of interest did
anyone ever play the Dragon 32 version of MM and complete it? if so
can you remember the 21st screen after The Final Barrier simply
titled "The End"? I think it had one of everything from the game in
there static nasties and guardians that is, and it had a Eugene over
the portal. I also am really looking forward to Death TV and Goodnite
Luddite. Also Igor if your looking for Spectrum games for inspiration
for "ZX Hero" try these out if you can find them:
Dr What (especially Pruneface) by Durrel software (I think?)
Heartbroken By Atlantis Software
Chubby Gristle By Gremlin Graphics
Quackshot By Creative Sparks
Underwurlde By Ultimate
Caves of Doom By Mastertronic
Spike By Firebird (Spikes sprite is in Still Stealin')
Stay Kool By Bug Byte (another Willy hopeful)
Tubarooba By Firebird
Super Sam By Alternative Software (I think)
Blagger By Alligata (A C64 game and the ultimate Manic Miner Rip-Off
it even has Indentical poison plants in it)
Streaker By Bulldog
Scumball By Bulldog
Cybernator 1 and 2 By (can't remember, Hewson I think)
Vampire By Codemasters
Ghosthunters By Codemasters
Automania (or Herberts Dummy Run or any of the Wally Week games) By
MikroGen
Finders Keepers By Mastertronic
If you're wanting Big Sprites try:
Shoa Lins Road By Konami (I think)
Cobra By Ocean
Yie Ar Kung Fu By Konami (I think)
Jack the Nipper 1 and 2 By Gremlin Graphics
Spellbound, Knight Tyme and Stormbringer (magic Knight games) By
Mastertronic
People from Sirius (Can't remember who it's by but I think it was the
first complete game Your Sinclair ever gave away on the front of the
magazine)
Joe Blade 1,2 or 3 By Players (might even put him in one of my games
some time)
A lot of the other games above here have big sprites too I could
think of more but I think I've put way too many already :)
Sorry for the massive post but it'll probably be the last one until I
release the final part of the down and out trilogy. I gunning to get
it on here before Christmas because if I don't finish it before then
I won't before the end of the year and that's my deadline.
DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!
