Subject: Down and Out Trilogy/Still Stealin'
The down and out Trilogy is finally finished. My net was on the blink
yesterday since I changed my home phone number, which incurred some
minor connection problems for a while. I'd already constructed about
10 screens yesterday, so I thought to myself since I can't get online
I'll continue with my game.....I only went and finished it :) I
must've made the fat end of 30 screens yesterday. Not to worry though
they aren't just crappy rush jobs, the majority of the layouts and/or
titles were scribbled down on the raggy bits of paper that live under
my keyboard (although there are a few spontaneous ones in there).
Once finished I spent an hour or so checking the rooms and making
slight improvements to them, mainly speeding up guardians tidying
sprite BMPs up. This game lacks a few of the things I promised, I
used a few sneaky tricks to get some effects but the main thing about
this game is the difficulty, I promised seizure inducing difficulty.
I have made some extremely unfriendly screens but the majority of
them are still suffering from eye candy syndrome. So I'm going to
hold back the release for a week or so, I'm thinking of releasing it
on the 10th or the 15th or some time between then (I'll keep you
posted about this). But I can promise a few things now. A lot of the
screens have individual sprites (there would've been more like this
but restrictions forced sprite recyling), and I even made a cutscene.
Of course there's no need for anyone to wet there pants with
excitement about the cutscene it's just a tactical use of a blank
Willy sprite, conveyors and teleporters. Sick thing is I promised
myself a long break from JSW creation after the release of this. But
I have an idea for another game already, it's simply titled "Bizarre"
I'll work on it next year along with the Special Eds of the Down and
out Trilogy. I'll try to get the specials of the trilogy out in 2003
(probably all in one zipfile) and with Bizarre following late next
year.
Sorry once again a giant post hahaha
