rooms! :-) It was very nerve-wracking, because when I was on 14 coins
and on my last life, I had to dodge a nasty-looking vertical guardian
(in "Tree continues...") to get the two coins I needed to secure #1,
and it was a very joyous moment when I succeeded! :-) No prizes for
guessing how I died, though! ;-)
I don't really have a competitive edge in this game, because there
don't appear to be any quirky features! ;-)

in Magic Mushrooms for the BBC Micro?
I was thinking more of a down-key for floor-blocks (or perhaps
spare-blocks in Manic Miner).
If ladders were implemented in Spectrum JSW, you'd probably want a
flag to enable or disable them for each room.
> I also nominate Chuckie Egg2 (spec) and Top Hat Willy (amiga).Chuckie Egg 2 is a great game (as is its prequel). Like MM and JSW, CE
is linear, and in CE2 you can move freely between rooms. CE2 has up-
and down-keys for ladders, and you can also take and drop objects (the
main plot is to collect milk, sugar, chocolate and toys to make a
giant Easter-egg). But the game-mechanics aren't quite as neat (or
quirky!) as MM/JSW, and the collision-detection is nastier! CE2 does
have a nice save-feature, which comes in handy on a real Spectrum! :-)
