Subject: mass collaboration rules
not rules just guidelines to stop it getting
messy. everything is negotiable, any questions etc. just
fire away!
these guidelines are going to be
included as a text file in the zip file. they are mainly
precautions to ensure that everything does smoothly. i really
want this to work out well!
1) adding rooms
should be done in sequence, over the next available
unused and lowest numbered room.
2) nobody alters
anyone elses screens without their permission
3)
people leave the odd undefined exit in their designs so
other people can carry on building from that point.
either that or they make use of the teleports, or leave
teleports to blank rooms or something. (also it would be
best if most of the teleports are fairly 'visible' ...
unless you want the effect of a secret teleport of
course!)
4) guardians! watch out! every time you want to add
a new guardian do it in sequence as you would do
the rooms. sorry this is probably just common sense
and me being patronising :)
5) making new
sprites. this is possible since so far only the sprites
from the 48k version are used. so all the extra ones
that are created must wipe over sprites which are not
used so far. otherwise peoples rooms will change and
may become impossible! (or crash!)
6) objects
are to be used *fairly* sparingly as we may run out.
the same goes for guards and sprites. although if you
are good at *graphics* (hello, erix!!!!) then feel
free to draw some new shit in the unused sprite
tables!;-)
7) i would like to be the 'editor'.. that is, when
people have finished adding to the game, they send it
back to me and i can just check quickly for bugs and
continuity/connectivity errors etc... i will not change anything without
asking first though. i just think someone needs to
monitor things as they develop incase something goes
wrong etc..
8) people work with the file for as
long as they feel they can get creative with it
(adding rooms either as a bunch by the same author or
scattered about the game), then they pass it on as soon as
they 'dry up'. i'm thinking that some people (like me
:) will want to add more at different stages as it
develops. maybe we can keep adding until all rooms are
full?!
9) if you have a little brother or sister... ask
him/her to design a room (with help, obviously) with
you!!! or a friend! i am really interested in getting as
MANY different authors in as possible! maybe not a
very practical idea actually but just a thought
:)
10) i'd prefer it if people filled in the room log
below, just as a way of keeping track of 'hoo dun wot'.
