The title-screen music is Ludwig van Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata
(Sonata #14 in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 27/2).

The in-game music is "If I Were A Rich Man" by Jerry Bock and Sheldon
Harnick, from the Fiddler On The Roof soundtrack.

However, when legal action was threatened over the use of "If I Were
A Rich Man", Matthew Smith replaced it with "In the Hall of the
Mountain King" from Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt suite - which is, of
course, also the in-game music in Manic Miner. Regular watchers of
The Simpsons may recognise another piece from the Peer Gynt
suite: "Morning".

BTW, the title-screen music in Manic Miner is the "The Blue Danube
Waltz" by Johann Strauss, which was also used in Stanley Kubrick's
film _2001: A Space Odyssey_, which in turn inspired David
Bowie's "Space Oddity"! :-)

And to complete the circle, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony - which I
first heard as the introduction to a David Bowie concert in 1990 - is
used to great effect in Kubrick's film _A Clockwork Orange_, where
the main character is obsessed with "Ludwig van". I might well try to
adapt Beethoven's Ninth as a JSW-tune or two! :-)
