""I have just finished Part 1 of Party Willy! See the Photos section
(Broadsoft > Party Willy) for screenshots.
I've also updated the previews of my future games on the Download
page of my website, and given the front page of this Group a new
look.""
I'll give it a look
""I had a quick play of JSW:FTB the other day, just to
compare "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "The Fool on the Hill" with
my rooms of those names (I didn't have to go far to find them ;-) ).""
Yeah, those rooms were some of the earliest rooms produced for JSW
vs. The Beatles, hence they appear *very* early in the game. I was
trying to make it in a linear fashion (that is, the rooms are
numbered roughly consecutively rather than that there's only one
route through the game)
""Yes, I purchased Reality (2CD limited edition) on the day of its
release, and yesterday I purchased his new DVD-single, "New Killer
Star".""
I've been on Bowie overkill of late, sort of preparing to go see him
live. In the space of ten days I've bought Reality (2CD), 1. Outside,
hours..., Black Tie White Noise deluxe edition, and the whole of the
Berlin trilogy. If you want to widen the scope, I could also mention
that I've picked up the first Stooges album
""Talking of Radiohead, I've recently come to realise what that guy
in the "Just" video said to make all those people lie down on the
pavement with him: "We must perform a Quirkafleeg!"""
I know. There's even a website dedicated to it (might be the same one
which initially offered the Gaping Pit remix). Once you know, it's
really incredibly obvious isn't it?
""They are certainly a significant source of inspiration for me
(along with TV, films, books, computer-games and tennis). Of the 64
rooms I've written for Party Willy so far, I can attribute 17 of them
to music.""
Whilst waiting for something else to download, I figured I'd make a
tally of the music references in JSW:FTB -
Amon Düül I [1]
The Beatles [12]
Can [1]
Bob Dylan [1]
Elvis [1 - very subtle, this one]
Brian Eno [3]
Godspeed You Black Emperor! [3]
The KLF [6]
Pearl Jam [1]
Peter And The Test Tube Babies [1]
Pink Floyd [1]
Public Enemy [1]
Send [1 - it only occurs to me just now that Sendy is technically a
musical reference as well]
Sigur Ros [1]
The Smashing Pumpkins [1]
Sun Ra [1]
Talking Heads [1]
Frank Zappa [2]
Giving us a total of 39 (not counting the title), plus near misses
for Genesis, U2 and Sandy Shaw. Comparitively, Soul Miner only has a
handful of references to Godspeed, Tool, Van Der Graaf Generator and
Shooby Taylor (and Sendy, but like I said that only occurred to me
now)
