Subject: Jet Set Ylliw (FAO Jaramago)

Thanks for the demo! The rooms so far are very attractive visually,
technically watertight, and I especially like the Ylliw sprite whose
head reminds me somewhat of the tap in The Bathroom! :-)

A few comments:

[Title-screen] Is "ILLYW" intentional?

[4] "sHORTEST dAYS": I suggest putting static nasties in the holes in
the middle platform, as this would force the player to jump over them
so as to avoid the static nasties in the top platform. Obviously the
static nasties in the bottom platform would have to be shifted to
accommodate this change.

[15] "aUDIENCE wITH tHE eYE kING": An obvious trick would be to hide
a horizontal guardian under the items, like in "The Object Shop" in
Richard Hallas's _Join the Jet-Set!_.

[17] "Dr.Broad wILL nEVER bELIEVE tHIS": Thanks for the tribute! The
deceptive block-designs remind me of a room called "Deliver Article
to Home Planet" that I've written for _Manic Miner: Allana Truman_
(which currently has 8/20 rooms written and will be released in
twenty weekly instalments in the second half of 2004).

[24] "aTTACK oF tHE CLONES": There goes one of /my/ room-ideas! ;-)
To quote the film: Your clones are very impressive.

[33] "dAMN iT! tHE YFO iS bROKEN dOWN": The right side of the YFO
(Ylliw Flying Object?) would make a great Promised Land for later in
the game. Personally, if it were my game I would consider putting an
item in the space below the toilet (which could be reached by jumping
through wall-blocks from the right), removing the wall-block at
(14,16) to provide an escape-route from this space, and perhaps
making this the only way back to the Master Bedroom at the end of the
game.

[34] "aBOVE tHE rUINS": The layout of this room will not allow Willy
to pass through it when running to the toilet at the end of the game.
A trivial way to make the game toilet-completable would be to make
the Master Bedroom link directly to Room 33, bypassing this room; the
alternative would be to redesign this room (if it were my game, I
would consider adding an invisible ramp to get the running Willy past
the hole and the horizontal guardian - this would work well
considering that Jet Set Ylliw uses fall-without-dying, and that you
could make the running Willy wait (by holding right) at the top of
the ramp so as to fall behind the horizontal guardian).

There's a possible infinite-death scenario if you jump back up into
this room from "aNCIENT cASTLE rUINS" [28]. Although not terribly
unfair, it could be prevented by moving the horizontal guardian's
start-position two characters to the right, which would give the
player a slightly nastier shock when entering this room from "dAMN
iT! tHE YFO iS bROKEN dOWN".

Please could you move all your files into one folder in the Files
section? You still have a folder "jsy photos" as well
as "jsyDEMO.ace" and "jsyDEMO.zip", and it is my policy as Group
Owner to keep the Files section tidy by requiring each author to have
at most one top-level file or folder. Alternatively, you may
keep "jsyDEMO.zip" as a top-level file if you choose to delete
both "jsy photos" and "jsyDEMO.ace".

P.S. I managed to unzip jsyDEMO.ace using a program called WinAce
[http://www.winace.com/ ], but I submit that we all agree to stick to
zip-files for the purpose of distributing Spectrum-software (I
believe ace-files are smaller than zip-files, so they may be
appropriate for PC-remakes).

P.P.S. Party Willy (Part 2) is now 33/64 (woo-hoo! - finally past the
halfway-mark), with another six rooms well on the way to being added
to that total by the end of 2003.
