"This auction is for eighteen 5.25" floppy disks, of various formats
>
> Read the eBay auction "About the disks"
(click on each disk image for more detail). I have no idea what is
on these discs (only have the labels to go by), or even if they work
after twenty years in storage, so it's a bit of a lottery."
"Not backed up, these are the only copies of these disks I am
not going to copy the contents and give data to the "Spectrum
community" free gratis; no matter how many emails I get asking me to
do so. The winner will be the person with the disks and access to
the data on them."
Which makes the outcome of the auction crucial to the chances of
rescuing the Megatree. Is anyone going to pay £52 (current bid) just
to keep them as collectibles? I've no idea who would be able to read
old Commodore 64 disks, but we'd better damn well find someone and
make sure that we win the auction for them!
