Subject: Future games

Hi, just a brief note about the games I am planning:

1 - Strangel 2 - This will be as Strangel 1 but with a more distinct
storyline. It will be set in the 'music district' of the Otherworld -
the story being that the government has been slowly strangling the
music scene with an Arcane device which they have planted in the
Otherworld (which happens to be the world of abstract thoughts and
ideas), which progressively makes people in the real world less
responsive to genuine creativity, and more inclined to buy
manufactured pap put out by the Big 5 (record labels). The machine
generates 'static' which renders all ideas null and therefore Willy
must go about the district, removing it all, and finally locate the
Stagnation Engine and shut it down. Most of the rooms will represent
one song each, and will be iconic and brick hard ;). This game
eclipses my idea for a game dedicated to Squarepusher, since he will
get a couple of rooms dedicated to him here (his ego is big enough
anyway!). The whole idea of the game is inspired in part by others'
and my own rooms based on songs, which were enjoyable to make. I'm
also a sucker for conspiracy theorys. A lot of planning is already
done.

2 - Dark Tower 2: Return to Terror Tower - Dark Tower is a JSW-like
game for the C64 in which a prince is turned into a mutant blob on
legs (no doubt because the author can't draw), who has a movement
engine and walking pattern almost identical to JSW (especially the
legs/feet, with 4 frames per character square). It has 26
exceptionally well designed rooms - especially with it's use of
guardian patterns. It also has ropes and slides (conveyor ramps in
JSW). You have to collect all the red 'jems' before you can go into
the final chamber and solve a riddle (which turns out to be really
crap), at which point you are released from the tower and from
blobbyness. Riches are also promised in the game notes but the ending
is decidedly dissapointing (JSW's ending is far superior!). In my
unofficial sequel, said prince, while living in the lap of luxury
after his fruitful adventure, gets a psychic calling back to the
tower, for reasons that will be explained in the game (bet you can't
wait... aren't these plots utterly gratuitous?). Anyway this game was
a prominent feature of my childhood and had a good atmosphere so
making a sequel to it is a good way of negating all the stress this
game caused me as a child (it's rediculously difficult).

However, next on my todo list is the releasing of (in this order):

a) the SE of Strangel
b) JSW: RR
c) Manic Person
