Subject: "JSW: The 2005 Megamix" website update
I would like to let everyone know that my JSW web pages, kindly
hosted by Xabi Vazquez, have been updated. Please visit
http://xa.bi/jsw/ for the main page, or go directly to
http://xa.bi/jsw/megamix.htm for the main page of "JSW: The 2005
Megamix". From there you can download the game, and you can also
visit the gallery to see snapshots of all of the 131 rooms accessible
during the game, before the final sequence starts (set your screen
resolution to 1024x768 or higher if you can).
Thanks a lot to Sendy, Igor and DrUnKeN mAsTeR for their "public"
response and kind words about the game, and to others who have
contacted me directly (you know who you are) :-) . Responding to
DrUnKeN mAsTeR's specific questions:
- Yes, exiting "The Well-Illuminated Inner Alley" to the left was
meant to be a trap. I admit it's nasty, even though it is possible
that someone will avoid it while playing for the first time if they
happen to enter the room from the left on the lower level, and so
will know that they cannot exit to the left on the upper level.
- And yes, falling into "The Quirky Stairway" (from the conveyor or
any of the other ledges) was meant to be a trap, too.
After all the criticism I have been getting for the infinite-death
traps, even though I do not intend to release any special editions
of "JSW: The 2005 Megamix" or "Willy's New Mansion" just to eliminate
them, I promise I will avoid them in any future games I may design.
Speaking about the future, when I do get down to JSW editing again,
my very general idea is to try and make a nice, compleatable game out
of Sendy's "The Unlucky 7" (or parts thereof - Sendy, thanks for your
permission to do it :-) ). I do not feel I can set any time
perspective for it at this point, but I will certainly let everybody
know when it becomes work in progress. At some point I would also
like to design a game all my own, but since it will require much more
time-consuming involvement, I have to postpone it for the time being.
How's everyone else getting along? I guess we should see "Maria On
Tour" pretty soon, right? When another person joins the Group, there
will be 500 of us :-) . And, incidentally, does anyone know Rob
Moseley's current e-mail address? I would like to let him know about
the use I made of his sprites and other elements in "JSW: The 2005
Megamix", but I am afraid that "rob.moseley@..." is not valid
any more.
Best wishes to everyone :-)
Daniel
