Subject: Re: Current affairs (huge)
Hello again. After much thought and several deep breaths after
reading through a few of my recent posts I've decided I'm doing far
too much at once. So here's how I'm going to break it down.
Once again I have hit problems with Maria on Tour, once again
involving portals. I have remedied this in theory but it's going to
be fiddly fortunately I haven't used too many rooms as it's going to
be awkward and involve cutting and pasting. I can't be bothered to do
this now as I was half way through correcting it and JSWED crashed. I
resisted the temptation to punch my computer and came here to post
since I've gave up on JSW editing for the day. On this subject a note
for John Elliot, as I know JSWED is a constant work in progress. My
actual problem IS whilst trying to put a teleport portal in a room
this time it crashes JSWED. Just out of interest I tried to set the
Start Portal in the same room (the number being 100) and it crashed
so next came the Maria and Toilet portal.........and it crashed. So I
tried setting the teleporter in every room after 100 (until about
118) Then I pretty much concluded Nah! I thought after this I would
try to set a teleport portal in and after room 100 in every JSW64
file I had on my computer and it crashed everytime. So is this JSWED
or is it my computer? Either way I can solve my problem when I can be
bothered it's just for your reference just in case anybody else
encounters this problem.
I started the first room of The Man who Sold the World yesterday and
finished the first room earlier on this morning (after the crash I
speak of above, I needed to relax and one room of another game isn't
going to kill me).
This will be my last post until Maria on Tour is finished (unless I
hit unfixable problems). I will check back every day as usual but no
posting at least until I finish something.
About Bizarre.
After Maria on Tour I have decided to take Daniels advice and Beta
finish it in 128, and since I hyped it to the point when it was going
to be the best game in the world I won't be surprised if everyone
thinks it's crap. However if it (somehow) recieves a fair amount of
Kudos I may Gamma finish it in 64k (just to tidy the graphics and
guards up really, and add a few things I know I can't with 128 but
always wanted to).
Also for Daniel I will eventually release Day 1 of 7 Days in the Sun
if the other 6 don't follow. But with me only having my notes and
stuff for the first 4 days, I may have hassle bringing this to a
close I have a rough idea of how everything is to go and I know how
it ends I just can't clearly remember everything I originally thought
of (I suppose if I really only have 4 days and I can't think of
anything to replace the stuff I've lost I could always shorten it to
4 days and call it Willy's long weekend).
Anyway just for everyone who's interested the chronology of my
planned releases is (providing everything goes right):
Maria on Tour: hopefully within a week or so (I mean it this time LOL)
Bizarre: As soon as I finish Maria on Tour hopefully before the end
of the year maybe early next year.
Down and Out Trilogy SE: Hopefully christmas this year (if not
unknown)
The Man who Sold the World: Late 2006-early 2007.
7 Days in the Sun: circumstances permitting 2007 ongoing.
I will work on the following games between projects and add to them
gradually and hopefully they will see the light of day sometime.
The Thing: upgrading to 64 as the idea still seems good but I've only
made about 7 rooms.
Futurama: upgrading to 64 version ] as I need the graphics but not a
lot of rooms.
Monkey:?
Drunken master SE: In it's current state, several sprites tidied some
rooms tidied, may never see the light of day.
Fantasy world Willy SE: will probably only see the light of day if I
get desperate for ideas now, I just don't really see the need to SE
this game now (even though I could have made a nice game with some
graphical rearranging).
Super Manic Miner: This is literally on ongoing project that may also
never see the light of day.
The as of yet unnamed MM: May be added to SMM as rooms instead.
JSW for Geordies: Dead and buried (why poke fun at myself?).
Mind Control 2 (subtitle undecided): May not happen yet.
I don't know if I've missed any out my computer is really misbehaving
so I can't even open my spectrum folder up to check. I daren't even
minimize this window at present incase it crashes. It's very unstable
to say the least.
One last thing I saw the first post from the JSW masscollab site for
ages..............and it was spam. How annoying!
Anyway I hope everyones projects are going well and I hope I've
cleared a few loose ends up for anyone that was interested (for
anyone who wasn't tough, if you've read this far haha you've wasted
your time).
Cheers
DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!
