Greetings All,

My name's Colin Broom. I'm a musician and composer. Recently I've
been doing some work on a radio comedy show for BBC Radio Scotland
called 'The Franz Kafka Big band'. It's a fairly fast-paced sketch
show that is at times sinister and at others chaotic.

Anyway, one of the sketches is based around the concept of 'Manic
Miner: The Opera', which we thought would be a great idea. Basically
, the scriptwriter wrote some words for a few scenes, and then I
composed the music for full orchestra (in this case virtual orchestra,
though it's pretty damn convincing). There are 3 scenes that have
been composed: I. - Central Cavern, II. - Eugene's Lair, and III. The
Warehouse.

Anyway, the show with Manic Miner goes out on Saturday 5th November,
12.30pm GMT, on BBC Radio Scotland (though you can listen to the other
Franz Kafka Big Band Shows each Saturday until then at the same time,
and the uncut version on Mondays 9.30pm . You can also listen to it
after the event by going to www.bbc.co.uk/radioscotland and doing a
search for 'Franz Kafka Big Band'.

Unfortunately the show is only going to feature sections of Scene I
and II (not scene III :( ). However, we will shortly thereafter be
putting all three pieces up on the Franz Kafka Big Band
(www.franzkafkabigband.com). If you're interested in being informed
when they are up, by all means drop me an email, and I'll let you know
(I promise I won't put you on any mailing lists of any kind, nor will
I send you any other email, unless you specifically request
additional information).

I'll probably post here again nearer the time. Just thought I'd give
you all a heads up on it.

I'm afraid I can't currently email the MP3s to anyone, as I have a
really terrible internet connection (I'm ashamed to admit I'm still on
dial-up).

Cheers,

C.
