time on graph paper. But now I have editors for many games, I find it
easier to just 'draw' directly onto the computer. That way, it's
interactive - you can test it and expand on it and tune it into the
game engine.
I use sketches for two things - writing down ideas when away from the
computer (not whole rooms, but certain block arrangements for
puzzles), and for doing a room map. The room map is to keep track of
each room I make and where it is, so I can get the connections right,
but I draw very little, if any, of each room, they are just numbered.
I did have one such room map uploaded for Where's Woody? but I took it
down. I think I have them for a few other games but nobody seemed that
interested since it's just a grid and some numbers.
I keep them for sentimental value ;)
