extra features of the engine for each room. However, there are no
instructions, so it took a couple of hours to work out what everything
did (I did manage to use every last feature of the engine!).
As the man himself said, Erix1 mode is about being creative with
compromises. It looks like there are a few more block types, but it's
done in the following way:
1) Each row of a room can be modified so that the water blocks on it
become something else. They can become ramp blocks, solid coloured
blocks which behave like water, conveyor blocks, etc.
2) You can turn the fire block into crumbling platforms. You can also
turn the ramp into fire, so you can lose the ramp and have normal
platforms, crumblers and fire blocks all in one room - but you have to
be creative with your positioning. That will make sense when you
actually go to design a room :)
3) There are even more things you can do, but the above 2 are the most
major. Additional features - you can turn the ramp into a switch which
can do various things - change the conveyor direction, or delete the
last 1 or 2 guardians from the level. A couple of features are
hardcoded, so you have to build round them.
4) Even more stuff, like disable jump, wrapping guardians, or making
the guardians walkable (affects all of them onscreen).
Also you get a hugely extended guardian table! Really a great engine.
And I think JSW: RR was my best game so far thanks to it!
