Subject: ULTIMATE MANIC MINER
Igor I think UMM is unbelievible, I've spent most of yesterday
playing it, and I'm not very far yet. The gameplay itself doesn't seem
ridiculously hard but it's working the secrets out so far that seems
to be the way of progressing. All in all it blew me away, and here
was me thinking I'd made "You-Robot!" a graphical wonderpiece. How
wrong was I? Then again it is only 5 and a half rooms finished. I
would've sent a message sooner but I had to keep having another
little go. I am sorely tempted to view the rooms I've already visited
with JSWED to confirm my suspicions on how you created some of the
effects, I have an idea on many of them but a few have me
wondering "Just how did he do that?". However since I promised I
wouldn't peek I won't. But I know you used switches for harmless
guards I can tell by the way they act when you walk through them,
I've exploited this little trick myself in 2 of my games. "You-
Robot!" and The DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! SE contain harmless guards made
from switches.
I like the story too, very George Orwell with overtones of The
Prisoner, plonking you into a utopia but keeping you there under
constant watch, tempting you with sin and vice to lower your resolve
and turning you into a puppet. Giving you everything you could ever
want while tactfully removing your freedom. It all seems very sinister
and the startup on the actual game is very impressive, I won't comment
on the actual thing for those who haven't played yet (wouldn't want to
spoil anything).
All in all, all I can say is well done you've far outdone yourself
this time. This makes Frosya look like Odd Job Eddie in comparison.
It was well worth the wait!!!
Cheers you've made my week.
DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!
