Subject: Update on Daniel's JSW activities

1.

The activity in the Group has apparently subsided considerably. I
hope that it is a part of a cycle, relating to boyfriend/girlfriend
visits, hard-time-at-work problems, etc., and not a permanent state
of things. I haven't posted for a while myself, because I had
limited time for JSW due to real-life obligations, and also I
devoted most of my available JSW time to finishing the "side
project" which I mentioned in one of the previous posts. I will not
offer more information about it right now, other than saying that it
will be a JSW48 game, and that unless I encounter an unexpected
critical obstacle, it should be released in June.

When this is done, my further JSW priorities will be: to update my
JSW website in order to put Herve's "Willy on a Transatlantic
Cruise" v. 2 and my "side project" on it, to finally prepare the
files to be sent for TZX conversion, to prepare the "final version"
of Jet Set Emily, according to Andrew's suggestions, to have a good
look at, and perhaps playtest properly, the recent Club releases
("Death TV", "Advanced MM/JSW Trainer" and "Day 1" of "7 Days in the
Sun") and to continue playing the existing JSW games. Further along
the road, it's the SEs of "Willy's New Mansion" and "Jet Set Willy:
The 2005 Megamix".

2. Things related to DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!'s games

I have never "publicly" thanked DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! for his message of
May 4th and for his reassuring words, so I'm doing it now :-). Also,
I am pleased to let everyone know that DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! has sent me
(some weeks ago, already) bugfixed versions of his first two games.
I have playtested the original "DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!" (and sent my
comments to the author), and I will playtest "Fantasy World Willy"
soon.

DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! has also kindly sent me "a load of stuff from the
development period" of both games. He said that he couldn't include
any scans of his notes or sketches, because he didn't have a
scanner, but he said that "in a few weeks" he might be able to take
high-quality photographs of early sketches of all his games, using
his fiancée's digital camera. Then he may resize them to post them
on this Group. In fact DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! said he was going to
add "design notes and pics of all the sketches, screenshots
(unfinished screens), and notes both on paper and in .txt
formats" "so the completists can get a rough feel for how the games
were made, built and improved on during the editing process".

Very nicely said, DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! :-) It is true of my JSW passion
as well :-) What's the Betty Ford clinic, BTW? :-)

3. A question to John Elliott

John, so far I haven't been able to load any JSW128 or JSW64 games
into JSWED 2.3.1. Is it a critical problem, or should I try e.g. on
another computer/OS? (So far I have tried it on a machine running
Windows 98SE). If the problem is critical and it is impossible to
load JSW128 or JSW64 games into the current version, when can we
expect a version of JSWED 2.3.x which will make it possible?

4. A question to Nigel "Fishyfish" Fishwick

Since you've posted recently, let me ask how "Willy Works" is
progressing? Have you done any rooms beyond the six whose
screenshots are available at
http://www.fishyfish.net/jsw/willyworks/ ?

5. A question to Dick Daggers

How is "Lovecraftian Willy" progressing?

6. A question to Sparkstercito

How is "Manic Miner: SPARKS.Russell´s Nightmare" progressing?

To everyone else - Happy editing and gaming!

Daniel
