Subject: PLEASE READ: Files section to be cleaned out

Please could the following Group-members read this message:

The Files section of this Group has just gone over 96% of its 20MB
quota, leaving approximately 820K free.
Therefore, in order to maintain a high quality of service to the
MM/JSW community, I have decided that on 2nd September 2006, I will
delete all files pertaining to non-Spectrum games. This will leave
us using only 29% of our 20MB quota.
The non-Spectrum games will be moved to a new Yahoo! Group called
"manicminerandjetsetwilly-nonspectrum", which I have just created:

So I hereby invite the above-named members to join the new Group,
and to upload their files (as listed below) to the Files section of
that Group.
If you do this yourselves, then the files will continue to be
labelled with you as the Creators, and you will be able to Edit,
Delete or Cut your own files.
If you leave it to me to move your files (on 2nd September), then
Yahoo! will label them with me as the Creator, and you will not be
able to Edit, Delete or Cut them yourselves.
If you wish me to just delete your files, and not upload them to the
new Group, now is the time to say.

All non-Spectrum-related files will be deleted on 2nd September at
00:00 GMT. (This does not include .TXT, .DOC, .JPG, .RZX or .ZSM
files that relate to a Spectrum MM/JSW game, nor does it include PC-
based utilities for Spectrum files, i.e. Arsen Torbarina's JSW
Monitor and SPECSAISIE.)

Why I'm doing this
------------------
The Files section has proved to be a very valuable feature of this
Group, allowing anyone to share their games - Spectrum or non-
Spectrum - without the need for personal webspace, and with access
restricted to members of this Group, which creates an ideal field
for semi-public beta-testing IMO.
20MB (20480K) is probably enough for a lifetime of Spectrum MM/JSW
games, with each release tending to be in the order of 15-100K. It's
the non-Spectrum games - particularly the PC remakes - that are
claiming the lion's share of our Files quota at the moment.
I did consider first deleting all Spectrum-related files that are
hosted elsewhere, but the potential savings are so small in
comparison (4177K, of which 990K are .RZX files) that it would only
delay the evil day when I have to delete the non-Spectrum files.
Also, since most of these files are hosted only on my personal
website, which is currently using 85% of a 15MB quota, it's possible
I might have to rehost some of them here in the future - boy would
my face be red if I had already deleted them!
