Subject: The First Innocent-Looking Block

The name "Innocent-Looking Block" (ILB) comes from the room "The
Innocent Looking Block!" (53) of Adam Britton's 1985 game "The Deadly
Mission". Andrew Broad mentions "TDM" in the context of this quirky
feature, which dumps you slap through the floor, on his "Quirky
Features" web page
(http://www.geocities.com/andrewbroad/spectrum/willy/features.html).

That was evidently the first consciously-exploited occurence of this
phenomenon in a JSW game. However, there is also a nice example of an
ILB in Adam Britton's previous game, "The Continuing Adventures". It is
in "The Conveyor Room" (31) - when you jump through the left ILB you
land safely in "The Cook's Birthday Cake" (00). This shortcut can spare
you a game-time minute or two if you are playing in order to complete
the game efficiently.

Just a historical curiosity :-).
