They're supposed to behave just like in JSW II (with the extension
that horizontal and diagonal guardians can be lifts too - and
presumably many more of the JSW64 guardian-types, since my patch is
very generic), but I haven't got the row-matching logic quite right
yet. In the current prototype, a vertical lift jerks you up by a
whole cell-row at a time when going up, and lets you fall when going
down.

I take it you haven't applied my Lifts patch to the game you're
editing? Your guardian /is/ a lift when I type these bytes into a JSW
game with the patch applied (notwithstanding the fact that JSWED's
guardian-editor gets the column wrong - my test-file is a JSW64:Z
game).

The latest beta-version of Broadsoft Lifts is in the Files section of
this Group (Broadsoft folder), but please note that it is a work in
progress, and that if you apply it to your game now, you may have to
upgrade it in the future to take advantage of any improvements.

I don't forbid the use of the beta-version of Broadsoft Lifts in
gamma-released games, but I would certainly encourage authors who do
use it to upgrade it in the future, if I ever do get around to
finishing the patch.

The use of Bit 4 of Guardian-Byte 1 as the lift-flag will not change
in future versions of Broadsoft Lifts, but the lifts should not pick
you up as low as they do, so upgrading the patch in the future may
cause games with lifts to become incompletable.
