Subject: Flash Manic Miner

Yesterday night I made a mistake of trying, for the first time ever,
Flash Manic Miner (http://www.darnkitty.com/manic/) and I got hooked
up on it immediately. I spent (wasted?) a good part of the last 30
hours of my life trying to pass all of the 20 "traditional" caverns
and /or get on top of the high score table. I have just succeeded in
both :-) .
As of this moment, I lead the table with 40674 points and 23 caverns,
and "atlas_t", an undisputed leader recently, is second with 38170
points and 21 caverns (http://www.darnkitty.com/manic/hiscores.php).

Now, the bad thing about Flash Manic Miner highscore table is that it
only embraces November and December of this year. Therefore, old
glories, such as Andrew Broad's 45982 points (see message 5965) from
just over a year ago are there no longer (have you ever improved it
afterwards, Andrew?).

So to Matthew Gordon - the creator of the site and of this version -
if you read it, my biggest suggestion for improvement would be to host
an all-times high score table (at least in addition to the system you
have in place right now). Only then could one really taste achievement
(or go crazy not being able to perform according to one's
expectations). Otherwise - a great version of Manic Miner, very nice
to play and I would say - close enough to the original. Thanks! :-)

So, my JSW time which was meant to go to playing "James Bond"
was "stolen" and lost, but I know Andrew will understand this one
addiction :-). Anyway, Andrew, would you expect any playtesting done
before the gamma release - if so, on which version - will there be any
time for it?

Happy New Year to all of you, once again! :-)

Daniel
