One idea comes to mind.

It's a slightly long shot but...
When you began,
did you wipe the sprite table, or at least the piggy
sprite? Only, if you did, and the room you're dealing
with used to be the Nightmare Room, then Willy
wouldn't have a sprite.
Like I said, a long shot :)
