Subject: Chronology - Questions to John about JSW128 development dates

John,

Thank you again for your quick and precise reply. I really appreciate your help!

I would now like to ask for your assistance in establishing the exact release dates of the consecutive versions and hacklevels of Jet Set Willy 128k.

Here's what I have and what I am still missing:

27 January 1996 - Jet Set Willy v. 0.00 128k Hacklevel 1 is released.

Question: Is this correct? (There may be a one-day difference with the actual release due to the American time on Yahoo!; if there is, I will correct it if you indicate so; this is a date of particular historical importance, a big one :-) ).

February 1996 - Jet Set Willy 128k v. 0.00 Hacklevel 2 is released.

Question: What was the exact date?

10 June 1996 - Jet Set Willy 128k v. 0.00 Hacklevel 3 is released.

Question: What was the exact release date of Hacklevel 4?

Also, I believe that with the release of Hacklevel 4 the Version was updated to 0.01 - is this correct?

16 September 1997 - Jet Set Willy 128k v. 0.02 Hacklevel 5 is released.

13 August 1998 - Jet Set Willy 128k v. 0.03 Hacklevel 6 is released.

25 June 2000 - Jet Set Willy 128k v. 0.0.4  Hacklevel 7 is released.

2001 - Hacklevel 8 of the JSW128 game engine is introduced.

Question: Which version of JSWED introduced Hacklevel 8? Was it, by any chance, v. 2.0.0 (released 21 January 2001) or another one?

29 May 2004 - Hacklevel 9 of the JSW128 game engine is introduced with the release of JSWED 2.1.0.

I have just used the word "released" with Jet Set Willy 128k, because I wasn't quite sure whether to classify these releases as "beta" or "gamma". If you could give me any guidance on this, it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, John, for helping me to make the Chronology as complete and accurate as possible in this department!

Daniel
