I don't have strong views on migrating this Group to groups.io.
From my personal perspective, I don't see any particular need for it, given the existence of the jswmm.co.uk forum, but I'm not opposed to it in any way, either.
In any case, I think that:
- It is too late to migrate it anywhere. Wasn't it only possible before the Yahoo! Groups lost their online presence and became e-mail-based only?
- If anyone were to do it, it should be the Group's "owner", Dr. Andrew Broad. His opinion and possible action on this would be crucial.

I understand that, but you always make a trade-off there, because forums and e-mail groups attract different people for different purposes. I won't use a forum for MM/JSW as I already use others actively, but I do enjoy hearing about MM/JSW somewhat passively from time to time. Horses for courses. There wouldn't be much duplication.
groups.io does allow attachments and you can also upload files, yes. (It's by the same guy who made egroups, which became Yahoogroups when he sold it to Yahoo!, all those years ago.)
Oliver.
